Sock Knitting: Spiral Sock Toes
Every time I think I've tried every knit heel or toe shaping method, I stumble across something new (to me). I'm currently in love with spiral sock toes.
Thanks to Skacel for providing the yarn and needles used in this tutorial. These products are available locally at many yarn shops and online at Makers' Mercantile.
Before You Begin
Spiral sock toes are a beautiful combination of form and function. The decreased stitches form pretty spirals around the toe. Since those shaping decreases are spread evenly around the toe, it's easier to maintain an even stitch tension which minimizes problems like laddering.
One thing to be aware of before you start a spiral toe is that the beginning of your rounds gradually shifts to the left by one stitch every time a decrease round is worked.
