SCRAPBOOKING - Based on some of the memorabilia I like to keep in my scrapbooks, some ideas could be: Photos - Your entire photo album is up for an appearance here. Decide on your favorites, or what represents the theme of the page. Just make sure you always have your camera with you, you never want to miss a moment.

Frozen in Time -Creating a Lasting Memory

Life these days moves quick. It was only yesterday I was taking my little ones out Trick or Treating, going to their school plays, taking my daughter to see The Christmas show in New York, and so many other memories that are priceless to me. Scrapbooking is an ideal way to map the journey of their youth and growth. It can be easy to create this memory time capsule. What a great new memory to create when you gatherthe family, pick out your favorite scrapbook at the local craft store (or two, I like having one for each child), make sure to get all the extra supplies you feel will enhance the pages and start your journey to preserving every moment. If you would prefer to purchase a starter kit for your scrapbook, here are some that came with great reviews from Amazon:

Based on some of the memorabilia I like to keep in my scrapbooks, some ideas could be:
  • Photos - Your entire photo album is up for an appearance here. Decide on your favorites, or what represents the theme of the page. Just make sure you always have your camera with you, you never want to miss a moment.
  • Printed memorabilia:
    • Movie, theater, concert, or tickets from any event that was memorable.
    • Newspaper or magazine articles.
    • Playbills from a Broadway or high school show.
    • Love letter
    • Post Card
    • Use your imagination; anything is open to keep in your scrapbook.
  • Maps great to be used as backdrop on pages highlighting a vacation. You could even cut some of the photos into the shape of the state.
  • Screen shots from your phone of special texts, event details, or weather reports of special days. (I use Dropbox to save them and that gives me the ability to print from my laptop)
  • Any odd little thing that contributes to a memory you want to preserve: candy wrapper, **my daughter actually saved the sauce packs from Taco Bell that her boyfriend gave her (you know they have the funny sayings on them) and included it in the scrapbook she made him for their 1 year anniversary.

STYLES OF SCRAPBOOKS:

Beginner-Friendly and Photo-Heavy
Or use traditional photos to fill album pages to tell stories without any words at all.

Journal-Inspired
When doing your scrapbook journal style, they are a more free-form way to capture the moment without feeling it needs to be done with precision. You can add photos, sketches, paintings, drawings: let yourself have fun with this style.

One-Image Embellished
Bring to life that single, extraordinary moment using one photo. There are so many layouts you can choose from: and while using your favorite embellishment to surround the single image, it draws your eyes directly to the focal point which is the image. You can use colored pencils, buttons, cut-outs, colorful tape, ribbons, etc.

Bright Colors, Bold Shapes I think the name says it all.

Organized Chaos Style
Have you ever emptied your pockets after a day trip, had items slip their way into a suitcase during a vacation, and you wonder what to do with them? Well give them a home in your scrapbook to be forever immortalized. Create an organized chaos.

School Days / Baby Scrapbook Pages
These are times I hope I never forget. Creating scrapbooks of your children from infancy are priceless. For infants you can include the label from their favorite baby food jar, a footprint, their first sock and so many others including a page from their favorite book. As they grow you can start to include, artwork, report cards, awards, photos, tickets to their first movie, first sports game, the list is endless. The list can be as long as your imagination allows it to be.

Memories Book
Do you remember when? Some theme titles for different pages can be:
  • My Favorite Memory
  • First Dance
  • First Friendship
  • Wedding Day
  • Our Biggest Laugh
  • Day Trips
Again, only your imagination can limit this list
